Sue’s Garden Studio & Guest Room

Sue and Melvin knew they wanted more space, but not exactly what for. Today their garden room is a painting studio, a guest bedroom - and the place that makes home feel like a holiday.

The Brief

There was no fixed plan at the start - just a wish for a bit more room. As the project evolved, the building found two clear purposes: somewhere to put up overnight guests, and a dedicated space for Sue’s painting.

Seeing It For Themselves

Sue and Melvin first came across Tiger Modular at a garden centre. Rather than rush, they went back several times to be sure it was what they wanted - and each visit left them more impressed by the build itself and the service on offer.

If you’d like to do the same, you can visit a showroom to see a building in person.

Everything Exactly As Promised

What stood out most was how straightforward the whole process felt. The couple were given a timetable of what would happen and when - and it ran exactly to plan. They decided in February, had a build date in March, and the installation was completed within the week.

“We knew in advance what would be happening day to day. The right people turned up at the right time, they did what they said they were going to do, and they answered all our questions.”

Built To Last

Sue describes the quality as excellent, with nothing to complain about. Crucially, it feels like a proper part of the home rather than an add-on.

“It’s just attractive. It doesn’t look like a temporary thing. It’s permanent, and it’s so well built.”

That permanence comes down to the build itself - our guide to insulated vs non-insulated garden rooms explains the difference.

A Room For Guests

The room was in use from day one, even while the couple waited on a few final pieces of furniture. Family were quick to try it out: when Sue’s daughter and granddaughter came to stay, they spent the evening photographing the night sky with the doors open. Everyone who visits is impressed - and, as Sue laughs, “They all want one.”

A Studio With A View

Day to day, the building is Sue’s painting studio - a place to create with the garden in full view, and a shared space for the couple to enjoy together.

“I love it when I’m sitting and painting and I look out the window and see the lovely garden. And then Melvin can come and sit with me and chat while we’re doing our things.”

The Result

Asked what she wishes she’d known before buying, Sue’s answer was simple: “How easy it was going to be.” Together with the garden, the house and the shed, the building has completed the whole space.

“It’s just finished the whole house off - the garden, the house, the shed and the areas it’s created.”
